About variable star observers

“PROMĚNÁŘ” is a colloquial term for a professional or amateur observer and researcher of variable stars and exoplanet transits—essentially anyone interested in this field of astronomy. Typically, it also refers to a member of the Variable Star and Exoplanet Section of the CAS, or a recipient of the Variable Star Observer of the Year award.

The Variable Star and Exoplanet Section of the CAS has been bringing together amateur and professional observers from Czechia and Slovakia since 1924. We coordinate observations of variable stars and exoplanet transits, and we operate the VarAstro database and the CzeV catalog. Data from our observers are included in professional publications, helping to develop astrophysics; some even contribute to the preparation of space missions.
